OUR IMPACT.
Populations around the lake suffer from a lack of convenient, basic transportation infrastructure. Our comfortable, safe and reliable catamaran ferries have significantly increased mobility of communities around the lake, whilst decreasing the number of drownings.
WE HAVE revolutionized transportation ON Lake Victoria.
Providing safe, reliable, comfortable transport.
Formerly conducted by wooden canoe, Lake Victoria saw many drownings and the constant threat of hippos to the commuting public. With the introduction of our catamarans, transportation has come safe, insured, reliable and even comfortable.
CREATING access for marginalized communities.
Due to great fuel efficiency and operating on routes where many traditional vessels wouldn’t be able to sail, Waterbus ferry services have transformed the lives of many living on the shores of the lake. The potential to replicate the model elsewhere is substantial.
Offering environmentally friendly transportation.
In contrast to traditional outboard engines that propel one canoe with several passengers, the technological configuration of Waterbus ferries and their engines leads to a significant reduction in carbon emissions and preserves air quality for passengers.
We have also launched a solar-propelled vessel, the first of its kind in the region, This milestone showcases our commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
“We have significantly increased mobility of communities around the lake, whilst decreasing the number of drownings.”
